Early 20th Century Building
Single Ply Systems Project — Pennsylvania
Overview
After years of vacancy, only the walls and a deteriorated roof were left of this gutted structure.
Details
Houck removed the existing BUR and replaced it with two-ply of asphalt. This temporary BUR system offered protection throughout the winter. In the spring, roofers inspected defects and applied an asphalt primer, new high-thermal insulation, a single-ply membrane system and a custom-designed hatch for roof access. Houck flashed and capped the perimeter walls with copper counter flashing.
