Flooring systems play an important role in the food processing industry. Vibrating processing equipment,forklift traffic and daily wash-downs are just some of the rigors a flooring system must endure. This food processing facility needed a flooring system that is durable and can resist chemicals. In preperation for the three (3) part urethane system, Houck used "blast track" equipment followed by the urethane composite which was screeded, trowled down and back rolled.

Maintenance Evaluation

Houck Specialty Contractors workmen lower their scaffold down the west side of West Virgina University's Lyon Tower while conducting a maintenance evaluation of the building. Houck performed a five-week program that surveyed all four of the Towers dormitory buildings. The job included a structural evaluation and some minor repairs to the stonework of the complex. The work was completed before the students returned for the fall semester assuring students of a safe place to live and study.

Arena Complex

Houck was contracted to repair the floor in the common areas of this arena and to apply an aesthetically pleasing, yet functional flooring system. Floor preparation began with repairing cracks in the concrete using a resinous repair system. After priming the entire area, a basecoat was applied and decorative vinyl flakes were broadcast into the basecoat. As a finishing touch, two clear sealcoats were applied for wearability & aesthetics.

Tuscarora Tunnel

After an accident involving a tractor-trailer caused extensive smoke damage to the entrance of the Tuscarora Tunnel, Houck was hired to remove all smoke residue using an environmentally safe, biodegradable chemical solution. The solution was applied to the damaged surfaces, allowed to thoroughly soak, and rinsed using a pressure-wash system.
