    Gary L. Houck is President and Chief Executive Officer of the Houck Group, Inc. He has more than 30 years experience in the restoration, roofing, specialty construction and real estate industries. He is well-respected by his associates, peers in the industry and members of the community.

    Gary has been a guest speaker and lecturer at numerous college, university and industry seminars and events. He has served on the Board of Directors and various committees of the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA). He is Past President and Director of National Sealant, Waterproofing & Restoration Institute (SWRI). He is also a past and present member of various boards including Messiah College, Mellon Bank, Liberty Mutual Insurance, Firestone Advisory Council, GAF Contractor’s Board, Penn State University's Four Diamonds/Hershey Medical Center, the Keystone Sports Foundation, Harrisburg Area YMCA, Sherwood Foundation, Multiple Sclerosis Dinner of Champions, American Subcontractors Association, Mid-Atlantic Builders Exchange and the American Cancer Society. He has also been involved numerous other civic and industry associations including Rotary Club, Construction Specification Institute (CSI) and Masonry Contractors Association (MCA).

    Gary is a 1974 alumnus of the Pennsylvania State University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in business. He is also a graduate of the United States Army Finance School at Fort Benjamin Harrison.

  • Brian K. Walker

    Brian K. Walker is Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Houck Services, Inc. He is responsible for the daily business operation and financial reporting of the organization.

    He has served as Controller, Business Manager and CFO for more than 20 years in central Pennsylvania and has experience with both the general contracting and subcontracting sides of the industry. He is currently a member of the Construction Financial Managers Association and American Subcontractors Association.

    Brian is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University where he majored in Business Management and holds degrees in Information Systems Management and Accounting.

    John is Vice President/Roofing of Houck Services, Inc.  In addition to managing the roofing division, he is involved in estimating, project surveys, project management, customer relations and consulting.

    An accounting graduate of Elizabethtown College, John worked in public accounting and earned his CPA license in 1973.  He has spent the past 30 years in the roofing industry where he has been active in all aspects of field and office management.  John is committed to the development and maintenance of customer relationships and has an excellent knowledge of roof systems and membranes.  He taught accounting at his alma mater and has been a guest speaker at various roofing conferences.

    Shawn C. Claypoole is the Houck Vice President responsible for business development. He maintains and nurtures relationships with Houck's current customers while actively seeking to show potential clients the value and service Houck has to offer.

    Shawn has more than 35 years of experience in the construction industry, including commercial building, remodeling and property management. He has been with Houck since 1982 and was significantly involved with the development of Houck's Roof Maintenance division.

    Shawn maintains memberships in a variety of organizations, including BOMA, IFMA, Preservation Marlyand, area chambers of commerce and various historical societies.

  • Austin S. Rhodes

    Estimator / Project Manager

    Austin Rhodes is an Estimator/Project Manager for Houck’s Restoration Department.  He predominately handles projects involving sealants, masonry and concrete restoration

    Austin has been with Houck for 13 years, spending his summers working in the warehouse before moving into an estimator/project management position upon graduating from college.

    Austin is a graduate of the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, from which he earned his bachelor’s degree in Finance.  He received his Masters in Business Administration from Lebanon Valley College.  He began a career at Houck because it combines his interest in construction, finance and business.

    In addition to working at Houck, Austin currently serves on the Board of Directors for the American Subcontractors Association of Central Pennsylvania.  He is also an active member of the Sealant Waterproofing & Restoration Institute (SWRI), which is a trade association promoting industry-wide standards of application and products for commercial sealants, waterproofing and restoration construction work

  • Frank D. Armstrong, Jr.

    Frank Armstrong has more than 25 years of experience in the construction industry, including more than seven years in safety and human resource departments.  He has served as a Safety and Quality Control Officer on several Army Corps of Engineers projects.  Frank has developed plans and implemented programs to maintain compliance with federal and state regulations concerning transportation, hazardous materials and waste handling, mine safety and training, excavation and steel erection.  

    Frank provides training and orientation for new Houck employees as well as supplemental training on new techniques and methods for the more experienced Houck employees.  Frank works diligently with employees and other safety professionals in the area to provide a safe working environment for employees and customers.  By working with OSHA, ASSE, NATMI and other trade associations, Frank is able to continue the level of professionalism and safety that Houck is known for.

    Frank holds a bachelor’s degree in Construction Management from Bowling Green State University and received his certification for Safety Director from the University of Central Florida.  Frank is a member of NATMI and ASSE.
