War Monument

Monument Rehabilitation Project - Pennsylvania

Overview:
This monument was constructed in 1889 of rough hewn and smooth granite. A lightning strike caused extensive damage. Portions of the monument blew off and stones weighing several thousand pounds were displaced as much as 4”.

Details:
Houck’s restoration craftsmen meticulously disassembled the upper portion of the monument before beginning repair work. After returning all stones to their original positions, Houck repointed, repaired and cleaned the monument.
